When my three kids were babies, we were blessed to be able to purchase some baby gear, like the items shown above. My children's favorite activity toy was the Rainforest Jumper. They would get in that thing and laugh and giggle and laugh and giggle, jumping all around. They loved playing with all the toys that were attached to the tray too.
As an infant, my first born son would only sleep the first few weeks in the baby swing. But this was back in the day, when they were hand crank baby swings. So every time it would run out of swinging power and stop, he would wake up crying. In order to crank it up, it would make an awful sound, and startle him. Of the joys of those first few weeks.
My middle son would only stop crying if my husband would bounce him in the baby bouncer. We had a baby bouncer like this one, except a different design. He was only happy if someone was bouncing him. I remember many nights upon nights of my husband laying on the floor with our son, bouncing him in the baby bouncer. Then he would bring him to me to nurse him every few hours.
We also had a Bumbo chair. One word of caution on these, if your baby has really chubby legs, it might not work the best for you.
We also had a baby playmat, which helped occupy my son's curiosity while I got the never ending laundry in or out of the washing machine or cooked or cleaned.
We also had a diaper changing pad cover that matched our nursery theme. I actually two coordinating ones, so that when one was in the laundry, the clean one was on the changing pad. More than just for looks, a soft fuzzy changing pad cover will keep the pad from being too hot or too cold during diaper changes. You know baby boys, as soon as cold air (or cold changing pad) hits them during a diaper change you better watch out for an immediate shower of pee! You can actually buy baby boy pee shields!
For small hand held toys, my children like the hand and foot rattles the best, as well as soft pliable fabric activity baby books with ribbons on the edges and pages with crinkly sounds.
Congratulations on your new baby! If you haven't already had your baby shower, you can register on Amazon for all your baby shower items!
